The Client: IKEA Home Furnishings The Need: A high-volume shelter (Approximately 7200 sq. ft.) to be used for the IKEA Parking Lot Summer Sale. It needs to be easy to transport, setup and finally break-down and remove. It must be safe, durable and weatherproof. Because of the immense footprint, there should be adequate airspace within the enclosure for healthy ventilation and airflow. Openings need to be large enough to admit forklifts, but secure enough to easily monitor. Branding is also required. The Solution: Produce a custom shelter that easily houses all of IKEA's sale furniture and accessories and provide ample light and space: Dependable -- stormy weather during the sale period was not an issue. Durable -- with airtight, watergtight, RF welded seams. Adaptable -- a parking lot was the perfect foundation, although our shelters can be used on almost any surface. The IKEA Summer Sale was a huge success on every count. Thousands of customers strolled through the light, airy enclosure, shopping for the IKEA furnishings of their choice. Customers enjoyed the wide aisles and easy access to items. IKEA enjoyed the ability to house excess inventory and sell it directly to the public without having to use any additional warehouse space. This greatly reduced their storage costs, stocking expeditures and unrecovered profits.
